On the 29th of December, I received a message in my Friendster.com account from an old friend, Mark Natan.
At first I thought they were spam messages, but I was also thinking that it wasn’t.
Apparently his sister was involved in an accident & badly needs help.
This are the messages that I received from Mark:

UPDATES OF HER IN ST. LUKE’S HOSPITAL AS OF DEC. 27:The micro vascular surgery was done after eighteen hours of operation. That includes the skin grafting on her injuries. At this time she is still in the bed recuperating and can still fell some pain. Sometimes she was crying the steel that holds the bone injury was still attached until the recovery of the wounds. It will stake a long time to recover maybe many months, then their must be a bone grafting to heal the injured bone.

All of this were confirmed when Mark sent me another message:
5th of January 2009Man,Kakapalan ko na tak mukha ha. Nagbubuligay kasi kami yana nga maka-raise hin fund para kan ate (We are all helping out to raise funds for Ate Joy). That’s why I’m sending this message again kay bangin you might think na spam message la ini. We need to spread the words talaga to raise fund. Even in your little way la ba kay ha St. Luke’s Hospital man gud diri sufficient an mga ginlo-loan nira mama para kan Ate’s series of operation. Our cousin, Ate Jamila’s paypal account will be helpful for friends overseas kasi based sa message it will double the donation, so it will be more helpful siguro. Thanks in advance & our family will be forever grateful.Truly yours,Mark
After reading the second message, I asked Mark what actually happened, he was able to send me a reply today. I told him I was going to post it in my blog (this blog).
5th of January 2008We had simple celebration the night of her birthday at home. Having dinner and singing on videokes. The next day (Monday in the Philippines), she traveled and rode in a van to Catbalogan where her work is. She seated on the front seat. Suddenly, before she could arrive to Catbalogan, a child in school uniform passed on the street and had the driver panic, I guess, that let him make a sudden turn to the right. Unfortunately, the van crashed through a Mahogany tree having an impact on Ate’s side.Ate was rushed to a nearer hospital and got a broken bone on her lower right leg. She had x-rays and diagnosed. I’m not sure the exact classification of the fracture but it’s like an open/compound fracture which scares us of how her leg be recovered.
She’s in conscious, thank God. And all is well on her except her right leg. The broken bone was crushed and that it might lead to infections if not treated immediately. It worries us because we don’t want the option to cut the infected part. We want a second opinion about her case if there’s possible way to recover the broken bone without the need of cutting it(or amputate). Because the crushed bone is where the complication comes.
I will ask my friend Mark to keep us (to those who are reading this & willing to help) updated, daily updates if he could give it to me.
Thanks!

Hello,
This is Mark and Priscilla’s cousin Jamila. A client of mine googled me and told me of this entry when my name was Googled. I thought some would think that sending money through Paypal would be questionable, but I am just trying to do all I can for Priscilla and the Natan family. Even though we are distant cousins, we have been pen pals for over 15 years. I love her tremendously and want to help in any way I can.
If any of your friends can help in any way, feel free to cn
Feel free to contact me.
